As Microsoft continues to refine Teams, it has announced the integration of the platform with Yammer. The tool enables workers to engage with each other and with customers on a social level.
The Communities app enables social interactions in Teams
Yammer, which Microsoft acquired in 2012, is usually available as a standalone Windows 10 application. But it offers critical social-networking experiences that are not native to Teams, which is why the integration of the two apps makes sense.
App features
Once you have integrated the apps, you will be able to communicate to a broader audience beyond your team or core work group. You can even see and assess the reach of your communication. The Yammer app also brings scalability to sharing a poll or question. That level of versatility can be useful in many scenarios, such as when you need to quickly shift from polling a few members of your team to conducting an enterprise-wide survey. Apart from that, users can easily start or discover important conversations. They can use an at-mention to direct a question to a specific worker or expert. What’s more, the Yammer app lets you mark best answers. This way, users can quickly spot actionable responses within Teams. The app is also ideal for hosting company-wide events like Q/A sessions and video conference meetings.
Installing Communities
You will need to download the new Communities app to be able to utilize Yammer in Teams. The good news is that the application should be available at the Microsoft app store by now. If you have not yet installed Communities, you can start by searching it within Teams. You may set it up for company-wide access, or you may deploy it for select departments or worker groups through custom policies.
