A recent update to the Minimum Hardware Requirements page shows that new systems should have 32GB or more to install Windows 10 (32 and 64-bit version). Thus, Microsoft increased the storage requirements up from 20GB and 16GB, respectively. Moreover, the tech giant also updated the processor requirements for Windows 10 v1903. The company added Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 to the list of supported Qualcomm processors.  However, the tech giant didn’t change the storage requirements for both versions of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise version 1903. Keep in mind that all the other system requirements remain the same without any changes.

No more update errors due to low storage space

As a quick reminder, many Windows 10 users encountered various update issues due to low storage space. The same storage space was also used for storing and running applications and other files. As a result, the respective systems quick ran out of storage space. It seems that Microsoft took notice of the huge amount of user frustration and bounded OEMs to increase default storage space requirements. The changes will come into effect starting May 2019.

Reserved Storage fixes low disk space update issues

Reserved Storage is another exciting feature that will come along with the next update. In case you are running low on disk space, Windows 10 will reserve a few gigabytes for updates. The addition of this feature will help users to experience a smoother update process. Moving forward, the storage space will be dedicated to temporary files, updates, system cache, and other applications. These files will be deleted when a new update is available.  You can check the current size of your reserved storage by navigating to Start » Storage settings » Show more categories » System & reserved.  Do you think that the increased storage requirements can offer a seamless update experience?
