Cyberpunk 2077 made it’s money’s worth back since launch day
CD Projekt Red has really outdone themselves this time, as they have announced in their 65/2020 financial report how the development and marketing costs for Cyberpunk 2077 have already been covered through pre-purchases and purchases made since the first day of launch: This report says a lot about the game, especially given how bug-riddled it turned out to be on all platforms. – total development expenditures related to the game, and – the game’s marketing and promotional costs borne by the Company – either already incurred or anticipated for the remainder of 2020. However, CD Projekt Red took responsibility of the entire matter and have taken extensive measures to make sure that players are still satisfied with their product. This includes offering refunds, creating dedicated help pages for their most frequently found issues, launching hotfix after hotfix, and more. All in all, one thing is clear: CD Projekt Red is pure profit from now on, even if the margin is slower due to the state of the game during release.
